Walter Chatman Mims

Walter Chatman Mims, 80, resident of Charleston died March 28, 2011 at his home. He was born November 11, 1930 in Shaw, MS to the late Chatman Earl and Queen Elizabeth Richards Mims.

He was a retired employee of American Hoist and Derrick Company in St. Paul, MN.

He was united in marriage to Gerline Greer who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons and one daughter-in-law, Walter L. Holmes of Chicago, Garvis Moncrief of Cincinnati, OH, Carvis and Paula Moncrief of Baltimore, MD and Damon Bailey of Rochester, MN, five daughters and two sons-in-law, Lora and Marshall Aaron of Chicago, Areta Bond of Detroit, MI, Yvette Mims and Desiree’ and Kylon Payne of St. Paul, MN, and Shirley Bailey of Rochester, MN, five step sons, nine step daughters, two sisters, Luberta Farmer of Carbondale, IL and Annie Queen French of Gary, IN, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 5, 2011from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston with Eld. Elvin Greer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
