Roger Lee Shavers

Mr. Roger Lee Shavers, affectionately known as Sonny, 58, resident of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of Homestown, died September 14, 2011 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born July 6, 1953 in Belzoni, MS to the late James Westly (J.W.) Shavers and Leola Shavers Irving of Hayti, MO.

He was self-employed as a mechanic and had lived in Jefferson City for the last 30 years.

On January 22, 1988, he was united in marriage was to Kim Poole. He later married Modean Morris of Malden who survives.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Travis Wade and Larkin Shavers, Sr. of Cape Girardeau, one daughter, Toni Danielle Shavers of Cape Girardeau, five brothers, James Shavers, Jr. of Fredricksburg, VA, Emmanuel Gene Shavers of St. Louis, Billy Shavers of Homestown, Ricky Shavers of Birmingham, AL, Jermaine Shavers of Jacksonville, FL, ten sisters, Christine Turner, Della Childress, Cherry Lloyd, Jackie Williams and Linda Finley of Kennett, Jatissa Pruitt of Junction City, Kansas, Jamette Shavers of Louisville, KY, Aaro Shavers of Memphis, TN, Josephine Loften of Alston, IL and Stephanie Edmond of Homestown, his step mother, Betty Shavers of Hayti, one step son, Billy Morris of Jefferson City, three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the North Pemiscot High Gymnasium located in Wardell, Missouri, from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. with Bishop Luke Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Homestown Cemetery
