Alex Axel Cooper Jr.

October 29, 1958 — January 27, 2012

Alex Axel Cooper, Jr., affectionately known as Maxie, resident of Oakland, California, died January 27, 2012. He was born October 29, 1958 to the late Arthur Louise Cooper and Alex Axel Cooper, Sr. of Hayti, Missouri.

He was of the Methodist faith and graduated from Hayti public school with honors in 1976. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Political Science from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri in 1980. In 2002, he received a Culinary Arts Cooking degree from Laney College.

Maxie was honorable discharged from the United States Army in California and held several jobs including site supervisor at McKesson Headquarters in San Francisco, California.

He was member of the Prince Hall Mason Wardell Lodge #157.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Calvin Cooper of Chicago, Illinois and Dr. William Cooper of Atlanta, Georgia, two sisters, Janice Hall of Hayti and Shirley Sanders of Jefferson City, Missouri, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hayti for a memorial service.
