Bernita Parker, 52, resident of Charleston died February 20, 2012 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born January 27, 1960 in Charleston, MO to the late John and Willie Mae Treadwell Parker.
She was a graduate of Charleston High School and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was formerly employed as the Center Director of the Charleston Head Start Program.
She was a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston where she was a missionary.
She is survived by two brothers, Michael Parker and Johnny Parker of Charleston, four sisters, Thelma Brown of Atlanta, GA, Juanita Barner and Carolyn Thomas of Chicago and Johnna Upchurch of Rock Island, IL, her deceased brother, Harvey’s children whom she raised, Harvey Corbitt, JaMichael Parker and Jade Corbitt of Norfolk, VA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Opportunity Church of God in Christ with the pastor, Elder Steve Betts officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
