Calvin Roy Rigney

July 14, 1963 — April 24, 2012

Calvin Roy Rigney, 48, resident of Poplar Bluff, died April 24, 2012 at the John P. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born July 14, 1963 in Wyatt, Missouri to Samuel Riggens of Charleston and the late Margie McCain Riggens.

He was a graduate of Charleston High School class of 1982 and received an honorable discharge from the United State Marine Corp. in 1989.

His first marriage was to Della Simpson. He was later united in marriage on January 6, 2009 to Gerry Lewis Rigney and was a member of Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff.


In addition to his wife and father he survived by one son, Calvin R. Rigney, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, three daughters, Lamika K. Rigney of Hammond IN, Rochelle Rigney with the U S. Army reserves in Iraq and Leandra Rigney of Charleston, one step daughter, Twyla Roberson of Poplar Bluff, seven brothers, John Frederick Johnson of Bloomington, IL, Troy Lee Riggins, Terry Rigney and Gary Rigney of Charleston, Tyrone Rigney of Indianapolis, IN, Swayne Rigney of Rome, Georgia and Staff Sergeant Gyrone Rigney of Waynesville, MO, five sisters, Brenda Hollis and Carolyn Smith of Indianapolis, Deborah Rigney, Amelia Rigney and Rita Spence of Charleston, six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.


Friends may call Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 2:00 P. M. at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with Pastor Steve Betts officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
