Jim Harris, Sr., 85, affectionately known as “Jump Sharp” resident of St. Louis, formerly of Haywood City died April 25, 2012 at St. Sophia Health & Rehabilitation Center in Florissant, Missouri. He was born August 31, 1926 in Sunflower, MS to the late Johnnie and Molly White Harris and lived in Missouri since 1962.
He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston and was self-employed.
On November 29, 1954 he was united in marriage to Rosa Lee Hill who survives of Sikeston.
In addition to his wife he is survived by eight sons and two daughters-in-law, Willie and Lois Hass of Greenville, MS, Freddie Harris, Jim Harris, Jr., Jerry Harris and Charles Harris of Oran, James and Evelyn Harris of Cape Girardeau and David Harris of St. Louis and Jerome Harris of Sikeston, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia and Bill Dawson of Marion, OH, Lou Ann and Walter Spence of Sikeston and Ms. Jessie Blackmon of St. Louis, two sisters, Sadie Mae Harris of Waterloo, IA and Virgie Mae Dunn of Millington, TN, 40 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Sunday, April 29, 2012 at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Haywood City from 2:00 P. M. until the funeral hour of 3:00 P. M. with the pastor, Rev. Alex Sims officiating. Interment will follow in the Haywood City Cemetery with Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
