Ednia Stokes, 69, resident of Sikeston died July 2, 2012 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born July 06, 1942 in Sikeston to the late A. D. and Louise James Dixon.
She was a foster grandparent and a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston where she was a member of the Usher Board.
She was united in marriage to Leroy Stokes who precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by one brother, A. C. Dixon.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, DeWayne Andrews and Dennis Andrews of Sikeston and Johnny and Salena Stokes of the state of Maryland, ten daughters and one son-in-law, Elois Baker of St. Louis, Lavern Thomas, Sharon Andrews and Ethel Stokes of Sikeston, Regina and Jerold Fleming of Atlanta, Haddie Eckles and Margaret Stokes of Waco, TX, Rosie Stokes of New Madrid, Betty Stokes of Farmington and Linda Stokes of Charleston, two sisters, Katie Dixon and Mary Griffin of Sikeston, 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 10:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 11:00 AM. at St. John M. B. Church with the pastor, Rev. Richard Lee officiating. Interment will follow Monday, July 9, 2012 in the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield at 12:00 noon with Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
