Alfred D. Sharp, 74, resident of Bertrand, Missouri died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born February 20, 1938 in Dorena, Missouri to the late Monroe and Louise Coleman Sharp.
He was employed as a farmer and custodian/bus driver for the Charleston Public Schools before retiring.
On May 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Taylor who also preceded him in death on May 28, 2003.
He was a member of First Praise in Cairo, Illinois where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Alfred D. and Betty Sharp, Jr. of Sikeston, two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Jones of La Center, KY and Anita and Artie Kirkwood of Bertrand, three sisters, Carolyn Roberson and Margaret Bingham of Cairo, IL and Lois (Joe) Scott of Sikeston, three grandchildren whom he raised, Angela (Steven) Wheeler of Bertrand and Jason Sharp and Travis Sharp of Charleston, a special friend, Hope Morton of Davenport, IA, 11 grandchildren and a host of great grand-children other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church in Charleston with Pastor Reverend Arthur Cassell, officiating, and Reverend J. L. Posey, eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
