Leroy Reed

Reverend Leroy Reed, 67, resident of Charleston, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born April 4, 1945 in Earle, Arkansas to the late Major and Minnie McDonald Reed.

He was the former pastor of Bell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ullin, IL and one of the founders of the Gospel group, “The Wings of Heavens” which was founded in 1988. He was also a member of the Sons of Daniel in Portageville for a number of years.

He was united in marriage to Annie Mae Simmons who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons and three daughters-in-law; Leroy and Katrina Atkins, Percy Atkins and Michael Atkins of Charleston, Keane and Teletia Atkins and Frederick and Margaret Thatch of Sikeston and Cassius Reed of Miami, FL, four daughters, Lanetta Lockridge of Springfield, Mo, Deanna Lara and Diana and Michael Samuel of Minneapolis, MN, and LaShonda (Timothy Spence) Durden of Wyatt, one brother, Roosevelt Reed of Murphysboro, IL, three sisters, Callie Armstrong of Columbia, MO, Linda Burton of Lilbourn, and Bobbi Smith of Howardville, 29 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at First Baptist Church in Charleston with Pastor J. L. Posey officiating.

The Williams Funeral Home of Charleston is charge of arrangements.
