Ethellena Gardner

Ethellena Gardner, 70, resident of Cairo, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born December 24, 1941 in Matthews, Missouri to the late Eugene and Gracie Jean Weathers Gardner.
She was a member of New Beginning United Freewill Baptist Church in Cairo where she served on the Usher Board and Chairman of the Hospitality Committee.
She survived by two daughters, Sophia Washington of Cairo and Angela Weatherspoon of Las Vegas, NV, one brother, Cecil McKay of Detroit and one cousin/sister with whom she was raised with, Minnie (Henderson) Clopton of St. Louis, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at New Beginning United Freewill Baptist Church located at 1413 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Cairo with the pastor, Bishop Paul Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements
