Lillian Ann Bankhead, 77, resident of Charleston died, Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 3:27 p.m at her home. She was born, December 31, 1934, in Birds Point, Missouri to the late Zingo “Buck” Sloan, Jr. and Roberta Branch Sloan of Charleston.

During the early 60s, Lillian worked as a caseworker for the Headstart program. During the latter part of her life, she worked as a cook at the Charleston Public Schools, Boomland Restaurant, and Moore’s Café. Her work history ended as a driver for the local transit service.

She was a member of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist in Charleston where served as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Secretary/Treasurer and on the Mother’s Board.

On June 11, 1954, she married the love of her life, Joe Bankhead who survives of the home.

In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by two sons, Joe Bankhead, Jr. of St. Mary, MO and Michael Bankhead of Cape Girardeau, MO; four daughters and one son-in-law, Jacquelyn Faucette of Pine Bluff, AR, Glenda Obot of Houston, TX, Maude and Michael Harris of Sikeston, MO, and Mary Bankhead of Cape Girardeau, MO; five brothers, Frank Sloan, of Milwaukee, WI , Jimmy Sloan, Lindsey Sloan, Larry Sloan and William Sloan of Wilson City, MO; three two sisters, Essie Bea Greer of Wilson City, MO and Ophelia Locust of Milwaukee, WI; and 10 grand-children, and three great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 1:00 P. M. until the funeral hour of 2:00 P. M. at Opportunity Church of God in Christ with Rev. Lavern Frazier officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
