Bedella Smith, 90, resident of Charleston died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1922 in West Helena, Arkansas to the late Sam and Stella Green Walker.
She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Henson, MO where she served as an usher.
She was united in marriage on September 25, 1938 to Thatus A. Smith who preceded her in death on September 8, 1997.
She is survived by six sons, Luther (Melverta)Smith of Carlyle, IL, James (Sharon) Smith of Centralia, IL, , Thatus (Maxine) Smith, Jr., of Omaha, NE, Jewel Smith of Peoria, IL, Gary Smith of Pinckneyville, IL, and Larry Smith of Arlington, TX. , seven daughters, Thelma Smith and Stella Smith of Carlyle, IL, Carliss (Henry) Sager of Charleston, Shirley (Nathaniel) Burke of Aurora, IL, Linda (Milen) Suggs of Centralia, Fannie Smith of Wyatt and Irene Acoff of St. Louis and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.
Friends may call Saturday, December 7, 2012 from 10:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 P. M. at the Drinkwater Auditorium located at the end of the Charleston High School with Pastor William Whitman of the Second Baptist Church in Carlyle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge
