Samuel Applewhite, 78, resident of Sikeston died January 7, 2013 at his resident. He was born March 15, 1934 in Kewanee, Missouri to the late Albert and Elva Lott Applewhite and was a lifelong resident of Missouri and of the Baptist faith.
He was united in marriage on December 25, 1959 to Vella Larry Applewhite who survives of the home.
Also preceding in death is three brothers, Albert Applewhite, Moses Lee Applewhite and Otis Applewhite, four sisters, Lucille Carter, Leara Alexander, Virginia A. Sims and Rosie Mae Grant and two daughters.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, Samuel Applewhite, Jr., Joe Louis Applewhite, and Derrick Applewhite of Sikeston and Robert Lee Applewhite of Columbia, MO, four daughters, Vella Lee Applewhite, Dionne Applewhite, Betty Jo Applewhite and Teri Ann Applewhite of Sikeston, one brother, John Applewhite of Elkhart, IN, 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston with the pastor, Rev. Richard Lee, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
