Sammie Herbert Dixon, 87, resident of Charleston died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the home of his niece with whom he lived. He was born January 25, 1925 in Thompson Bend, Missouri to the late Ozark and Essie Martin Dixon.
He retired from the General Motors Corporation in Saginaw, MI and received an honorable discharge from the United States Army on November 6, 1946.
He was united in marriage to Ethel B. Currin who preceded himin death. He later married Jessie Dixon who also preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother, Robert Dixon of Sikeston, two sisters, Rosemary Smith of Sikeston and Pauline Salvorah of Danville, IL, a niece with whom he lived Cherlene Mixon of Charleston and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with the pastor, Elder Steve Betts officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
