Georgia Lee Hankins, 95, resident of Bell City died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at her home. She was born September 06, 1917 in Sweatman, MS to the late Aaron and Francis Johnson Ratliff.
She was employed at the Bell City Public Schools until her retirement and was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City where she served on the Mother’s Board.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on January 15, 1936 to Manuel Hankins who preceded her in death on January 26, 1976.
She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Vickie Hankins of Dale City, CA, Guy and Sandy Hankins of Spokane, WA, Taylor and Addie Hankins of San Diego, CA, Stan and Debbie Hankins of Colorado Springs, CO, Jerry and Darlene Hankins of Wayne, MI and Donald and Katie Hankins of Denver, CO, four daughters and three sons-in-law, Marva and Gary Watkins of Oak Park, MI, Mavis L. Carpenter of Murfreesboro, TN, Vivian and Brian David of Detroit, MI and Kimberly and Walter Bartlett of Covington, LA, one sister, Lucille Ratliff of Grenada, MS, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at the New Morning Star MB Church in Haywood City with the pastor, Rev. Alex Sims officiating.
Interment will follow in the J. C. Pullen Memorial Garden Cemetery near Bell City with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
