Lula Mae Jones, 96, resident of Portageville, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti. She was born October 3, 1916 in Marion, Arkansas to the late Sammy and Annie M. Smith Horton and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, Wilbur Morgan.
She is survived by one brother and two sisters-in-law, Lester and Viola Miller of Kansas City, Missouri and Pearl Morgan of Pulaski, Illinois; five nephews, Ozell, Alonzo, Alphonzo, Jerome, and Arthur Morgan; two nieces, Stephanie and Jamice Morgan; special cousins, Geraldine Whitfield of Lilbourn, Missouri, Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Davis of Portageville, Missouri, Deidre Whitfield of Gainsville, Virginia, Demetric Davis of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Dre’Ana R. Whitfield of Norfolk, Virginia; a special friend, Carolyn Barnes Taylor; caregivers Ollie Jennings and Luvenia Fitzgerald of Portageville, Missouri, and a host other cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 11 am to the time of funeral at 12 noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church #2 in rural Hayti with Minister W.C. Norris, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Concord, Missouri with Williams Funeral Home of Howardville in charge of arrangements
