Louis Van Montjoy, Sr., affectionately called “LV” 94, resident of Sikeston died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born April 27, 1920 in Wolf Island, Missouri to the late Walter and Nellie Gray Montjoy.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Charleston, Missouri. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was honorably discharged on Jan. 6, 1946 after serving four years.
He was united in marriage to Katherine Dickson on May 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1997.
He retired from Sikeston Public Schools where he was a bus driver for several years and was an active member of Senior Citizens on the Move in Sikeston.
He is survived by three sons, Marshal Montjoy and Kim Montjoy of Sikeston and Frankie “Tony” Montjoy of Huntsville, TX, five daughters, Shirley Sanders and Karen Montjoy of St. Louis, Cathy Holly of Auburn, WA, Francis Montjoy of Huntsville, TX and Monica Jackson of Harvest, AL, one brother, Joseph Montjoy of Tuckerman, AR and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife he is also preceded in death by three sons, Louis Van Montjoy, Jr., Russell Montjoy and Larry Montjoy and two daughters, Peggy Blissett and Delois Brooks.
Friends may call Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 2:00 P. M. until the funeral hour of 3:00 P. M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sikeston. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
