Stennis Clemons, Jr., 68 resident of Chicago, formerly of Charleston died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago. He was born September 9, 1946 in Anniston, MO to the late Stennis F. and Velma Germany Clemons, Sr. and was of the Methodist faith.
He served in the United States Army from August 10, 1967 to August 8, 1969 receiving an honorable discharge.
On December 11, 1970 he was united in marriage to Hazel Ann Burns Clemons who survives of Sikeston.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Stennis Clemons, III of Champaign, IL, four daughters, June Lalone of Carbondale, IL, Christina Clemons and Lisa Branion of Sikeston, and Chanlanda Brown of Cape Girardeau, three brothers, Joe Mitchell Brown of Detroit, MI. John Thomas Clemons of Cape Girardeau and Phillip Clemons of Charleston, three sisters, Yvonne Mack of Jefferson City, MO, Ira Jo Gordon of Charleston and Etta Stockton of Cape Girardeau, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be Monday, September 8, 2014 in the Mound City National Cemetery with full military rites.
