Robert Lyons, 81, resident of Charleston died Thursday. October 16, 2014 at the Charleston Manor Nursing Center. He was born March 2, 1933 in Euphoria, MS to the late Henry and Truly Shaw Lyons.
He was a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston and was united in marriage to LueAlice Tompkin who survives.
In addition to his wife he is survived by seven sons and five daughters-in-law; Robert (Carolyn) Lyons, Russell (Eilleen) Lyons, Ronald (Latoya) Lyons and Gary (Melinda) Lyons of Indianapolis, IN, Albert Curtis Lyons and Eddie (Johnnie Mae) Lyons of Charleston and Robert Earl Hughes of Bloomington, IL, seven daughters and five sons-in-law; Truly (Terry) Riggs and Janie (Mark) Watson of Bloomington, Dorothy (Roscoe) Macon of Cleveland, OH, Peggy (Howard) Biles and Dianne (Curtis McCatrey) Hughes of Charleston and Brenda (Clyde) Towle and Betty Hughes of Marion, IL, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Friends may call Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with the pastor, Elder Steve Betts officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
