Vernard Irish Jr

Vernard Irish, Jr., 68, resident of Cairo, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Daystar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cairo. He was born February 2, 1947 in Cairo to the late Vernard and Ruthie Moore Irish, Sr.

He retired from the Milwaukee Transit Authority and relocated in Cairo where he served as former Deputy Coroner of Alexander County and was active in the Sumner School Reunion gatherings.

He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church 21st Street in Cairo where he served on the Trustee Board.

He is survived by one daughter, Angel Henderson of Memphis, TN, one brother, Delbert (Vonda) Irish of Cairo, three sisters, Constance Williams of Cairo, Jowanna (Charles) Hammond of Memphis and Joyce Key of Tacoma, WA, one granddaughter, Whitney Henderson of Memphis and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church 21st Street.
Interment will be Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Mounds National Cemetery in Mounds with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
