Joe N. Bankhead, 82, resident of Charleston died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born February 21, 1933 in Wyatt, MO to the late Alonzo and Maude Green Bankhead.
He was a veteran of the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He was united in marriage to Lillian Sloan on June 11, 1954. She preceded in death on Oct. 25, 2012.
He was employed with Burkhart and Randall for over 32 years and was a deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church .
He is survived two sons, Joe Bankhead, Jr. of Florissant, MO and Minister Michael Bankhead of Cape Girardeau, four daughters, Jacquelyn Faucette of Pine Bluff, AR, Glenda Obot of Houston, TX, Maude (Michael) Harris of Sikeston and Mary Bankhead of Charleston, one brother, Elder Herbert Douglas Bankhead of St. Louis, one sister, Lelia Wade of Virginia Beach, VA, 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 2:00 P. M. until the funeral hour of 3:00 P. M. at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with the pastor, Supt. Steve Betts officiating.
Interment will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
