David Edward Hughes, 77, of Fisk died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born May 15, 1938 in Marvell, Arkansas to the late John Henry and Alberta Lee Hughes.
He was a former member of Church of the Living God in Grand Rapids and was employed at Oliver Machinery in Grand Rapids for over 25 years.
He relocated in Fisk, Missouri and followed occupation of farming for over 25 years.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jackson Hughes who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five sons, David Hughes, Jr. and Curt Hughes, Sr. of Grand Rapids, Reginald McCray, Sr, and Marquise Meekie of Sikeston and Desmond Meekie of Bernie, eight daughters, Clara Hughes, Chris Hughes, Zella (Tracey) Harris and Lucille Hughes of Grand Rapids, Tammaree (Alejandro) Kelly of Tampa. FL, Lisa (Milton) Taylor of Sikeston, Leslie (Keith) Harris of Covington, LA and Cheryl (Booker) Tuggle of Poplar Bluff, two brothers, Jack Hughes and Jesse Hughes of Grand Rapids, five sisters, Essie Mae Williams and Ruby Bentley of Grand Rapids, Roberta Gamble and Mary Hughes of Seattle, WA, and Myrthes Hughes of Poplar Bluff, 36 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 11:00 A. M. until the time of the funeral services at 12:00 P. M. at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City with the pastor, Rev. Alex Sims officiating.
The Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
