Ida Shannon

Ida Howard Shannon was born on September 14, 1955 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She was the third daughter of twelve children born to the union of Josh and Chaney Shannon Howard, who precede her in death. After beginning her life in Mississippi, the family moved to Sikeston, MO in 1958. Ida attended Sikeston Public Schools and graduated from Sikeston Senior High in 1973.
In1983 was united in holy matrimony to Robert Shannon, Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union, a son was born, Byron Dewayne Shannon.
Ida was a very loving person who would never meet a stranger. She would go out of her way to make everyone feel loved. Upholding the golden rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We should love the neighbor as thyself.” She was a faithful member of the Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church confess Christ at a young age under Pastor Jones.
Ida departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2015.
Preceding Ida in death are her parents, Josh and Chaney; five brothers: Willie James, Luke, Caleb, Caleb II, and Cal; four step-children: Barbara Shannon Buchanan, Reuben Shannon, and Ramon Shannon.
She leaves to cherish her memories are her children: son - Byron Dewayne Shannon (Tedioushi); stepson – Terry Shannon; daughter – Deshyia Dashelle Shannon; stepdaughter – Teresa Shannon Newton; four grandchildren – L’Angel, Lakyron, Tarahji, and Tylien; two brothers: Josh Howard and Odell (Janice) Howard of Sikeston, MO; three sisters: Luella Howard, Mary Ann Howard, and Martha Harris of Sikeston, MO; one sister inlaw – Evelyn Howard; one aunt – Luella English; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
"Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. Goodbyes just mean we will miss you until we meet again."

Friends may call Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Herman Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
