Otha "Bud" Harris, Sr.

Otha Dennis Harris, Sr., affectionately known as Bud, 82, resident of Charleston died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Charleston Manor Nursing Home. He was born October 12, 1932 in Marianna, Arkansas to the late John and Leora Adams Harris.
He was an employee of Michigan Standard Alloy of Benton Harbor, MI for 17 years until his retirement. Upon retirement, Bud made his living doing farm work and various other odd jobs. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn J. Young Harris on August 13, 1995 who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley and Sylvester Edwards, Mary and Micheal Gregory, Othella Harris Long, and Jessie Marie Harris all of Benton Harbor , and Charlene Harris of Elkhart, IN, two stepdaughters, Delores Cherry Young and Naomi Peaches Wince of Charleston, one stepson, Thurman Young, Jr. of Charleston, one great granddaughter, Demitra Trecie Asberry, whom he raised, of Charleston, one sister, Lola Watson of Benton Harbor, and one brother, James Harris of Gary, IN, 28 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 11great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Friends may call Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M. at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston with Elder Elvin Greer officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
