Ruth Ann Newton was born January 16, 1943 in Sikeston, MO. She was the daughter of John Waters and Bernice Lane. To this union two daughters were born. Her mother later re-married and to this union four more children were born. In addition to both parents, her husband, Richard Newton, daughter, Lisa M. Newton, grandmother, Mary Turner, and sister Betty Jean Waters, preceded her in death.
Ruth Ann Newton attended Lincoln School in Sikeston, but graduated from Sikeston High in 1959, ranking 5th in her class. She furthered her education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She was employed as a teacher in St. Louis, MO at Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement in 2003.
Ruth Ann accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. For many years the church she attended was of Methodist faith but when she moved back home to Sikeston, she attended a service at Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church was where she needed to worship.
On Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. God dispatched his angels to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO to bring back the soul of our beloved one, Ruth Ann Newton at the age of 72 years young.
Ruth Ann leaves to celebrate her life and cherish precious memories, her step father Willie N. Lane (Ida) of Sikeston, MO, 3 brothers, Willie L. Lane (Celest) of Decatur, GA, Kenneth Lane and Undra (Stephanie) of Sikeston, MO, 1 sister, Janice (Odell) Howard also of Sikeston, MO, 1 aunt, Clezell Burnett of Waco, TX, a special niece, Clezell Peet of Sikeston and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Very dear to her heart was a long time friend, Ceola Fulcher, whom she communicated with on a daily basis, and her Pastor John Goodwin, and the Presbyterian Church family. Other special friends to the family are Lynn Ware, Mary Wiggins and Juanita Smith.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 3:00 P. M. at Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church with the pastor, Rev. John Goodwin officiating. The Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
The body was cremated.
