Billie Ray Jarrett, 73, resident of Charleston died Friday, January 30, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. He was born April 1, 1942 in Deventer, MO to the late Isaiah and Minnie Swope Jarrett, Sr.

He was of the Baptist faith and had recently rededicated himself to the Lord.

He was employed by Charleston Public Schools where he was a bus mechanic.

He was united in marriage to Helen Bradford on June 20, 1968. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2008.

He is survived by two brother, Isaiah (Ike) Jarrett of Chicago and Robert Biles of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, two sisters, Alfreda Jarrett of Charleston and Yvonne Jones of Rock Fall, IL, one step son, Bradford Garland of Charleston, three step daughters, Sandra Ramsey, Susan Suggs and Janett Wilderness of Charleston and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call, Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 p. m. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with Minister Willie Jarrett and Rev. Laverne Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
