J D Joseph Verner, 71, resident of Lilbourn, Missouri died Monday, April 25, 2016 at his home. He was born October 27, 1944 in New Madrid County, Missouri to the late Roosevelt "Ted" Verner and Mon Willer Long.
J D attended the New Madrid County School system and graduated from Howardville High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army from 1964 until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He accepted Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by one son, Antjaun Verner of Chicago, Illinois, three daughters, Angela Hill of Toledo, Ohio, Keisha Verner of Griffith, Indiana and Quania Verner of Indianapolis, Indiana, four brothers, Jodie Verner of St. Louis, Missouri, Henry Verner of Arlington, Tennessee, John Verner of Oxford, Mississippi, and Timothy Ray Verner of Conyers, Georgia, 14 sisters, Deloris Burton and Joyce Standard of St. Louis,Missouri, Annie Lee Murray of Jefferson City, Missouri, Ann Marie Duncan of Marston, Missouri, Barbara Verner of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Carol Jackson of Sikeston, Missouri, Felicia Kamara, Sandra Griffin, Stephanie Verner, and Sarah Kent of Charleston, Missouri, Lori A. Hawes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Billie Jo Thurman, Vereline Johnson, and Alice Jenkins of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a special friend, Christine Steward of Toledo, 9 grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 12:00 Noon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston with Reverend Charles K. Burton, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mason Cemetery in Point Pleasant, Missouri with full military honors.
