Ethel L. Eggleston Weakly, 80, resident of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 27, 1936 in Bieleh, Arkansas to the late John and Ora Huffman Eggleston.
Ethel received Christ at an early age and was a member of Church of God in Christ. She was married to Bishop Don L. Weakly for 43 years until his passing on November 30, 2014. She loved to fish.
She is survived by one daughter, Ollie Betts of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandy Betts of Sikeston, Missouri, two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Eddie and Monet Jenkins of Nashville, Tennessee, Melvin Burrnell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Clinton Wren of St. Louis, Missouri, Leonard and Vera Spicer and Ricky Spicer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, three brother-in-laws, Robert Hamilton of St. Louis, Missouri, Carl Hamilton of Sikeston, Missouri, and Michael Hamilton of Haywood City, Missouri, six sisters-in-law, Hattie Latham of Gulfport, Mississippi, Earlene Thomas of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mary Curry of St. Louis, Missouri, Patricia Cagle of Caruthersville, Missouri, Phyllis Rowe and Beverly Morris of Sikeston, Missouri, a very special granddaughter whom she raised, Yolanda Betts of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, three very special grandsons whom she raised, Sedaka (Romey) Betts of St. Louis, Missouri, Tavis Betts of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Kendall Steele of Belleville, Illinois, other grandchildren she helped raise, Swaneisha Betts, Keanca Betts, Vetress "Pepper" Dickson, Marcus Betts, and De'Andra Betts of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a nephew and niece she helped raise, Terrence (Monique) Beal and Kanquika Beal of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a special niece, Janice (Eloise) McPike of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a very special neighbor, Mrs. Roberta Brown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, six great great grandchildren, great grandchildren, additional grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, May 13, 2016 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 pm at Greater Dimension Ministries in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with Bishop Calvin Bird officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
