Bernether Macklin, 68 passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016. Bernether was born October 30, 1947 in Charleston, Missouri to Allen Brown, Sr. and Jimmie Lee Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents, (one brother) William Brown, (one sister) Sara Brown.
Bernether was educated at Thomas Kelly High School graduating in the class of 1965. She went on to further her education, acquiring multiple degrees. Bernether was employed by Kansas City Southern Railroad for 32 years where she then went on to retirement. On April 5, 1969 she joined Louis Macklin in holy matrimony and was blessed with three children: LaDonna, Dorothy, and Micah.
Bernether confessed Jesus Christ at an early age at Mercy Seat Baptist Church. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1968 she became a devout member of the Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member on the ushers* board, mass choir, as well as a faithful Sunday school teacher.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Louis Macklin of 47 years. Three children: LaDonna Powells (Tim) Blue Springs, MO, Dorothy Macklin-Hurt of Gainesville, VA, and Micah Macklin (Audra) Shawnee, KS.
She had three sisters, Virgie Triplett of Chicago, IL., Dorothy Jones of Kansas City, MO., Helen Hardman (Adell) of Kansas City, MO.; Four brothers: James Brown, Sr. of Chicago, IL., Allen Brown, Jr. (Darlene) of Peru, IN., Jimmy Brown (Betty) of Kansas City, MO.; a cousin that was raised with her, Theaster Maxwell of Benton Harbor, MI.; she had four grandchildren, Belinda (Jalon), Diamond (Chris), Isaiah and Hailey; five great grandchildren, Janie, Christian, Carissa, Sabrina, Angel and a set of twin girls; Aspen and Ansley also a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist, 2801 Swope Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64130. Interment will be Monday, July 25, 2016 following graveside rites at 1:00 P. M. at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
