Clifton Farr, affectionately known as Chicken aka Clip, was born on Monday, March 23, 1936 in Essex, Missouri to James William and Mary Mattie Elizabeth Randolph Farr. He was number seven of 16 children, 14 boys and two girls. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Moses, Clem, James Jr., Calvin, and Glenn Farr.
Clifton confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and later united with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Lilbourn, Missouri now under the leadership of Minister Darryl Minner. Clifton was a faithful, devoted and active member of Pilgrim Rest’s usher board and choir until he was called home to glory.
Clifton attended public school in Gray Ridge, Missouri. After which, he helped his mother support the family while working as a farmhand. Years later, Clifton moved to Chicago to join brothers Moses and Calvin, where he was gainfully employed and continued to help support his family back home. Upon his return to Howardville, Clifton worked as a factory worker for several years at Federal Mogul in Malden, Missouri and finally retired from Noranda in New Madrid, Missouri, in 1998.
Clifton was a proud man who loved God, his family, gardening, watching Tom and Jerry with his great-grand children, westerns, baseball, and baseball, and let’s not forget BASEBALL! He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, as he never met a stranger and often lent a helping hand.
On Thursday, September 29, 2016 God dispatched his angels to Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau to bring back the soul of our beloved Clifton “Chicken aka Clip” Farr when he was freed from his nine year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
