James Woodson

James Woodson, 87, resident of Haywood City, Missouri, died Friday, December 30, 2016 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was born May 24, 1929 in Grove Hill, Alabama to the late Beauty Chapman Caves and Frank Woodson.

He was a hard-working man who loved his family. James worked many, many years for Moore Farms, but retired from Dean Farms in 2008.

He was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Harmony Lodge No:40 F and AM.

James served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Woodson of their home, four sons and four daughters-in-law, Ronald and Stacy Woodson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Toby and Tenika Woodson of Deridder, Louisiana, Terry and Francis Woodson of Fresno, California, and Percy and Rena Woodson of Bell City, Missouri, eight daughters and five sons-in-law, Jane and James Winfield, Clara and Ronald Armstrong, Betty and Charles Morris, Gail Woodson and Shantel Woodson all of Sikeston, Missouri, Sheila Warren and Annie and Johnny Avance of Haywood City, Missouri, and Tressy and Billy Williamson of St. Louis, Missouri, three step-sons, Jerry Jones of Kansas City, Missouri, Derrick (Tracy) Jones of Haywood City, Missouri, Roderickus (Taneisha) Jones of Belton, Texas, and three step-daughters, Theresa Jones of Sikeston, Missouri, Charolyn (Anthony) Timmons of Haywood City, Missouri and Tonya Chamberlain of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two brothers, Melvin (Sally) Woodson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Mose (Shirley) Champman of St. Louis, Missouri, two sisters, Sharon (David) Woodson-Moss and Thelma Woodson Williamson of Battlecreek, Michigan, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Friends may call Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 11:00 am until the funeral hour of 12:00 Noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston, Missouri with his son, Elder Ronald Woodson officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories in Sikeston with full military honors.
