William Henry Betts, 76, resident of Charleston, Missouri died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born April 17, 1940 in Charleston to the late Jim and Mattie Johnson Betts.
William attended school in Charleston. He was employed with the Charleston R-1 School District as a custodian at the Charleston Middle School for 36 years.
He was the proud owner of Betts Laundry for 29 years.
William was united in marriage for 26 years to Mary Louise Parker Betts on November 9, 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Betts of Charleston, two sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Leesha McCauley of Stanley, Wisconsin, and Lonnie and Christie Lawrence of Chicago, Illinois, two daughters, Patricia Tyus of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Denise Webster of Detroit, Michigan, one step-son, Kevin Parker of Sikeston, four brothers, Jimmy Betts of Charleston, Herman Betts of St. Louis, Missouri, Johnny Betts and Clyde Betts of Kansas City, Missouri, three sisters, Minnie Betts of St. Louis, Missouri, Mamie McElroy and Carrie Milo of Kansas City, Missouri,one brother-in-law, Milton Parker, Jr. of Sikeston, one sister-in-law, Bertha Parker of Sikeston, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Friends may call Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 pm at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with Superintendent Steve Betts officiating and Bishop Calvin Bird eulogizing. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
