Mr. Charles Aaron Wade, Sr., 84, resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Wyatt, Missouri died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 2, 1932 in Malden, Missouri to George Wade, Sr. and Ella Graham Wade.
Aaron confessed his faith at an early age at the Rush Ridge Baptist Church in Wyatt, Missouri. He attended his years of formal education at Washington School also in Wyatt, Missouri. After completing his schooling, Aaron joined the United States Army, where he dedicated six years to serving the country in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. His tenure in service continued across Texas, Georgia, and Virginia. Upon leaving the military, he pursued a career in culinary services for over 60 years. He retired from Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in 2007.
He continued his passion for working and meeting people in 2008 until his retirement from Cox Communication Services of Virginia in December 2016. Aaron enjoyed being with his family, sharing stories of his past, planting in his garden, fishing, watching sports, and caring for his beloved pecan tree; watching it grow.
Charles Aaron Wade, Sr. was joined in holy matrimony to Lelia "L.V." Bankhead for 62 blessed years. Their marriage produced six loving children. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Rose Wade, a son, Charles Aaron Wade, Jr., one brother, Leroy Wade, and a sister, Margaret Wade. His legacy continues with two sons, Thomas G. Wade and Kenneth D. Wade of Virginia Beach, Virginia, two daughters and one son-in-law, Shandra D. and Victor Pope of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Brenda Carol Wade of Virginia Beach, Virginia, four brothers, Waverly (Eula Jean) Wade, Elmer Lee Wade, Marvin Wade, and George Wade, Jr. two sisters, Early Mae (Lawrence) Stringfellow and Ollie Lee Lane, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Friends may call Monday, March 13, 2017 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 pm at Open Door Fellowship Church in Sikeston, Missouri. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with full military honors.
