Rena Mae Stewart, 77, resident of Sikeston, Missouri, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born May 12, 1940 in Wiggins, Mississippi to the late Andrew Jackson Fairley and Alice Logan Fairley.
She married William Love Stewart in 1969, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
After being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Rena decided to make Sikeston her home. She became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Rena was beautiful and kind-hearted. She loved to laugh and make others laugh too.
Rena had an entrepreneurial spirit. She sold various items to the children and would feed members of her community in New Orleans. She also did office work and was a housekeeper.
Rena is survived by one son, Gregory V. Bell of New Orleans, Louisiana, two daughters and one son-in-law, Felicia Stewart of New Orleans, Louisiana and Deborah and Robert Casey of Snellville, Georgia, five brothers, Jesse Dewitt "J.D." Fairley of New Orleans, Louisiana, MSgt Addison "Buddy" Fairley of Sacramento, California, Millard "Bruce" Fairley of Alexandria, Louisiana, Vaughn Wendell Fairley of Oakdale, Louisiana, and MSgt Kenneth Fairley of Lawton, Oklahoma, three sisters, Marjorie Fairley Slaughter and Alice Fay Fairley of Chicago, Illinois, and Della Mae Fairley Hempton of D'iberville, Mississippi, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 11:00am until the funeral hour of 12:00 Noon at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Richard Lee officiating.
