Phillip Porter Jr., 55, resident of Charleston died Saturday, June 17, 2017, peacefully in his home. He was born May 30, 1962, in Pinhook, Missouri to Phil Porter, Sr. and Rosie Lee Strayhorn Porter of Wilson City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Linda Porter Bradley.
Phillip graduated from East Prairie High School Class of 1981. He loved to cook, watch sports and go fishing.
Phillip married Rose Graham on September 16, 1988, and she survives of the home.
He was a professional truck driver and a general farm worker. He was employed with Raffety and Company for many years.
In addition to his wife, Phillip is survived by, one son and one daughter-in-law, Dyrek (Tina) Merriweather of St. Charles Missouri, two daughters, Deanna Graham and Ieasha Porter of Charleston, Missouri, two grandchildren, Dyrek Jr and Dyreanna Merriweather of St. Charles Missouri, three brothers, Arbie Agnew of Cairo, Illinois, Delbert Agnew of Wilson City, Missouri and Elmer Agnew of Troy, Missouri, one sister and one brother-in-law, Kay (Shay) Lewis of Florissant Missouri, three uncles, Walter Porter of Erie, Pennsylvania, Willie Strayhorn of Cairo, Illinois, and Larry (Clementine) Strayhorn of Charleston, Missouri, four aunts, Mary Strayhorn of Wilson City, Missouri, Alma Strayhorn (Steve) Williams of Charleston, Missouri, Joyce Strayhorn (Charles) Jefro of Carbondale, Illinois, Mary L Porter White (Robert) Ross of Sikeston, Missouri, one great-aunt, Ophelia Drake Buckley of Champaign, Illinois and a host of other relatives, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour of 2:00 pm at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Lavern Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
