William Franklin Speed, 67, resident of Sikeston, Missouri was found in his home on June 23, 2017. He was born January 25. 1950 in Hughes, Arkansas to the late Woodrow Wilson Speed Sr. and Estella Joyce Speed Jackson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Speed, and one sister, Yvonne Speed.
William was a New Madrid County Central graduate and a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
He was intelligent, uniquely neat, and had an entrepreneurial spirit. William was self-employed. He enjoyed fixing appliances and mowing lawns.
William is survived by eight brothers, Woodrow (Deborah) Speed, Jr. of Sikeston, Milton Speed of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Charles (Juanita) Andrews of McAllen, Texas, Curtis (Johnnie) Speed, Jerry Speed, and Lawrence (Pearlie) Speed of Hughes, Arkansas, Fredrick Speed of West Memphis, Arkansas, and Bobby Speed of Hughes, Arkansas nine sisters, Mary Ann Merkson of Memphis, Tennessee, Amanda A. Speed of Olive Branch, Mississippi, La Carre Ivy of San Francisco, Barbara Hurd and Louise Love of Chicago, Illinois, Lavon (Clarence) Turner of McCrory, Arkansas, Capra Speed of Dallas, Texas, and Aimee Speed and Lucille Speed of Hughes, Arkansas, nephews, nieces, and host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, 201 Young Street in Sikeston, Missouri. Interment will follow in Payne Cemetery in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
