Lavell Durden, Jr., resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born November 4, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Lavell Durden, Sr. and Della Durden Oliver of Sikeston, Missouri.
He served his country honorably with enlistments in both the United States Army and the United States Navy.
Lavell's love for cooking inspired him to earn his culinary certification. He also enjoyed cutting hair and took cosmetology classes in hopes of becoming a licensed barber.
In addition to his mother, Lavell is survived by one son, Christopher Shannon of Howardville, Missouri, one brother, James Durden of Lilbourn, Missouri, two sisters, Kenya Durden and Felicia Hall of Kansas City, Missouri, his stepfather, James Oliver of Sikeston, Missouri, seven grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 am until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri with Reverend Richard Lee officiating. Full military honors will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
