Joseph Lee Applewhite, 73, resident of Sikeston, Missouri, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born May 29, 1944 in Sikeston, Missouri to the late Albert and Hazel McCauley Applewhite.
Joseph was a hardworking man who loved his family. He retired from Noranda Aluminum, Inc. in New Madrid, Missouri after 30 years of service.
He and his wife, Erma Jean Barnhill, have enjoyed over 35 years of true love.
In addition to his wife, Erma Applewhite, who survives of the home, he leaves to cherish his memories, four sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Torrie Applewhite and Michael and Kesha Applewhite of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Timothy Applewhite of Atlanta, Georgia and Antwan Barnhill of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, four daughters and one son-in-law, Pamela Applewhite and Veronica Applewhite of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sheryl Applewhite of Tampa, Florida and Renee and Steve Flye of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, four brothers, Ezell Applewhite and James (Mary) Applewhite of Sikeston, Missouri, Leon Applewhite of Chicago, Illinois and Lorenzo Applewhite of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, four sisters, Irene Applewhite, Ida Applewhite, and Mary Ann Applewhite of Sikeston, Missouri and Willie Applewhite of Chicago, Illinois, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 2:00pm until the funeral hour of 3:00pm at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Herman Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri.
