John D Blackmon

John D. Blackmon, Jr., 69, resident of Oran, Missouri died Wednesday, October 25 at his home. He was born January 3, 1948 in Leland, Mississippi to the late John D. Blackmon, Sr. and Dorotha Mae Selma-Blackmon.

John D. was a trucker driver for Stockade Building of Oran for many years, until his health failed him and a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church in Haywood City.

In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Sanders, one daughter, Glenda Black-Goode three brothers, T. C. Blackmon, Nathaniel Blackmon and Jerry Dean Blackmon and four sisters, Annette Whalen, Betty George Maden, Caldonia Bland and Brenda Hatchett.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, five sons, Robert Stone of Milwaukee, WI, Bobby Black of Caruthersville, MO, and Anthony Blackmon, Zackery Blackmon and Adrian Blackmon of Sikeston, three daughters, Gloria Blackmon of Oran, Jessica Wiley of Cape Girardeau, MO and Enda Jones of Marian, IN, four brothers, Willie Blackmon and Emmanuel Blackmon of Chicago, Robert Blackmon of Farmington, MO, Russell Phiffer of Cape Girardeau, six sisters, Beverly Lee Blackmon of Chicago, Ethel Hamilton, Dorothy Chamberlain and Joyce Scott of Sikeston, Mary Blackmon of Cape Girardeau, and Earnestine Blackmon of Perryville, MO and 19 grandchidren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at New Hope Ministries in Sikeston with Rev. Alex Sims, pastor of New Morning Star Baptist Church officiating.
