Quanda Faye Visor Bailey, affectionately known as Gwen, was born November 10, 1961 to the union of Doretha Visor and the late Percy Visor, Sr. in Charleston, Missouri. She was the eldest of six children. She was raised in a strong Christian loving household. She was taught to love God first and family second.
Gwen confessed her belief in Christ and was baptized at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri where she served as Sunday School Secretary and School Teacher for many years.
Quanda attended Charleston High School. Upon graduating from Charleston High School in 1979, Quanda obtained her CNA license and worked briefly as a CNA. She then attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois and obtained her LPN license.
Because of her love for nursing and her drive to further her career in nursing, she attended Forest Park College in St. Louis, Missouri where she received her RN degree. Nursing was Gwen's passion and she always strived to stay current on new procedures. She served in the Army Reserve as a nurse.
She died on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Gwinett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Gwen is survived by her mother, Doretha Visor of Charleston, Missouri, two sons, Nelson Bailey III and Noah Matthew Bailey of Lawrenceville, Georgia, one stepson, Oliver Bailey, Jr. of Okinawa, Japan, one stepdaughter, Olivia Bailey of Snellville, Georgia, five sisters, Pamela Visor of Omaha, Nebraska, Bridget Visor of Charleston, Missouri, Leslie Visor of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Helen Louise Webb of Kansas City, Missouri, and Diane Whitehead of St. Louis, Missouri, five brothers, Percy Visor, Jr. and Derell (Matasha) Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, Brian Visor, Sr. of Charleston, Missouri, Mark Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri and Tyrone Taylor of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two step grandchildren, nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. with the pastor, Reverend Arthur Cassell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
