Anthony Ray Kent, Sr. a resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri was born on October 31, 1961 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Robert Henry Kent, Sr. and Emma Banks Kent of Charleston.
He attended Charleston High School and enlisted in the United States Army where he obtained his GED. He received an Honorable Discharge. In recent years, he attended Three Rivers Community College where he majored in Computer Science. Anthony enjoyed singing and spending time with his family. He loved his grandchildren.
Anthony Ray Kent, Sr. was called from this life on Monday, November 13, 2017 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Ray Kent, Jr. and his brother Julius Lee Kent, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Emma Kent, of Charleston, Missouri; children Laurentiss (Margo) Kent, and Julius (Selmanique) Kent of Charleston, MO, Trone Kent of Memphis, TN; siblings, Shirley Johnson, Walter Walker, of Oceanside, California, Earnestine Upsher, Robert Henry Kent, Jr., James Franklin Kent, of Michigan City, Indiana, Maxine (Carlos) Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Clementine (Larry) Strayhorn, Debra Kerr, Pamela (Rodney) Jones and Wilbur McCain of Charleston, Missouri, Evonne Cassel McCray of Clarksville, Tenneesse, Thomas (Denise) Kent, James (Rosemary) Kent of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, John Wesley Kent of Los Angeles, California, Rickey (Nicole) Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Donald (Lisa) Ingram of Southfield, Michigan; sister-in-law, Christine Kent of Michigan City, Indiana. Eight grandchildren Laurentiss Kent, Jr., Dequavius Scott, Xadriana Scott, Jennifer Sharp, Ameenah Kent, Zayna Kent, Audrey & Adrienne Snow, and one great granddaughter Serenity Clark; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon for the visitation, and at 12:00 noon for the funeral at Opportunity Church of God in Christ at 608 W. Cypress St. in Charleston. Superintendent Steve Betts will officiate.
Interment will Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
