Sterling Foster, 89, resident of Bertrand, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the Bertrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 22, 1928 in Wyatt, Missouri to the late Collier Foster, Sr. and Viola Davis Foster.
He attended Lincoln High School in Charleston, Missouri.
Sterling was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. During his tour of duty, he was a Stoneman 214 and received the World War II Victory Medal. Sterling was honorably discharged.
He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist in Wyatt, Missouri, where he served as a deacon.
Sterling owned a restaurant in Detroit, Michigan. After retiring, he relocated to Wyatt, Missouri and became owner of a bible store and sent bibles all over the United States.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Ira Foster, McKinley Foster, Garvey Foster, and Earl Foster.
He is survived by one son, Anthony Robinson of Detroit, Michigan, two daughters, Barbara Foster-McKee of Chicago, Illinois and Linda Flowers of Detroit, Michigan, one brother, Collier Foster of Detroit, Michigan, two grandsons. Urice (Marie) Foster of Chicago Heights, Illinois and Maurice Foster of Harvey, Illinois, two granddaughters, Danielle (Doug) Foster of Streamwood, Illinois and Brittany (Dartail) Carmen of Davenport, Ohio, a close friend, Albert Williams, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 am until the funeral hour of 11:00 am at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend Darren Horrell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
