Erma Jean Bell Robinson, 78, resident of Charleston, Missouri, died Monday, July 30, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 21, 1940 in McCrory, Arkansas to the late Australia Alvin and Mary Pierson Bell.
Erma was a member of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri where she joined in 1960.
She was united in marriage to James Hubert Robinson on October 26, 1980. They enjoyed 14 wonderful years together until his death in October 1994.
She was a cook and housekeeper for the Story Family, the Brook Family and the Moxley Family. She also found gainful employment as a cook at Larry's Quick Shack and the Country Kitchen.
Erma had a loving personality that was shown for others through her everyday living. She loved cooking and would always have a meal for the hungry. She never met a stranger and would often take in the homeless. Erma also loved dancing, gambling, playing cards and bingo.
In addition to her husband, preceding her in death is one brother, Leroy Bell, three sisters, Eula Mae Long, Leonia Massey and Ruby McKinney, and three grandsons, Richard Flye Bell, Brandon Bell and Rico Bell.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Shirley Bell of Sikeston, Missouri and Ricky and Valery Bell of Charleston, Missouri, one brother, Richard Bell of Ocala, Florida, two nephews, Jerry Long and James Long of Benton Harbor, Michigan, three nieces, Earlene Massey Townsend of St. Louis, Missouri , Rosie Long Reynolds of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Jeanette Love of South Bend, Indiana, seven grandchildren. 32 great grandchildren, two close friends, Vertie Mae Dowell of Charleston, Missouri and Reverend Emile Davis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend J. L. Posey officiating.
