Charles Ray Jennings, Sr., affectionately known as Joe Cool, 62, resident of Fulton, Kentucky, formerly of Charleston, Missouri, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at his daughter's home in Charleston, Missouri. He was born April 2, 1956 in Diehlstadt, Missouri to the late James Charles Jennings and the late Veatrice Crider Wilson.
Charles Ray grew up in the church and believed in God. He attended Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church before relocating to Fulton, Kentucky.
He was a hard-working man. Charles Ray was a self-employed contractor, who took pride in remodeling homes and replacing roofs. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and belonged to the Twin Cities Wild Meat and Fish Group.
In his free time, Charles Ray loved to barbeque, cook and have fun. He enjoyed talking and being the life of the party.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Wilson and James Ezell Jennings, three sisters, Margaret Petty, Lettie Jennings, and Ella Austin, one brother-in-law, Carl Bell, and one sister-in-law, Shanee' Jennings.
Charles Ray is survived by two sons, Marcus (Artasha) Pittman and Charles Ray Jennings, Jr. of Charleston, Missouri, five daughters, Lashina Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Terri Lakisha Craig of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Zamecka (Adrian) Jennings of Charleston, Missouri, Velvet (Darryl) Jennings-Straughter of Canton, Ohio, and Takeedra Moore of Jonesboro, Arkansas, nine brothers, J.D. (Gloria) Wilson of Bertrand, Missouri, Favis (Tonya) Wilson, Lorenzo Wilson, Frederick (Kelley) Jennings, DeRandie Jennings, and Byron Martin all of Charleston, Missouri, James Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee, Rashad Maxwell of Memphis, Tennessee, and James Keith (Estalene) Jennings of Kankakee, Illinois, eight sisters, LaWanda (Ricky) Wilson and Mickie Martin of Charleston, Missouri, Carolyn (Aaron) Brown of Dayton, Ohio, Velzora (Monroe) Jenkins of O'Fallon, Missouri, Dorothy (Garfield) Jones of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Johnnie Mae Bell of Kankakee, Illinois, Jacqueline (Charles) McElroy of San Jose, California, and Charlene Adam of Pearl, Mississippi, one stepson, Harold Brown of Fulton, Kentucky, three stepdaughters, Victoria Grubbs, Rachael Pledge, and Tyrhonda Brown of Fulton, Kentucky, five special friends, George and Gwen Chambers of Fulton, Kentucky, and Ervin Watts, Ola Mae Owens, Ezola Clark of Charleston, Missouri, 20 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 pm at the Bowden Civic Center. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri.Bowden Civic Center
