Charles Hoover McGaughy, 61, resident of Columbia, Missouri, formerly of Homestown, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. He was born September 15, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles Hubert Simmons and Ruthie Mae McGaughy Malone of Chicago, Illinois.

He was raised in St. Paul Baptist Church in Homestown, Missouri.

He was employed as a truck driver for Citizen Gin in Wardell, Missouri, before relocating to Columbia, Missouri. He also worked for Loxscreen.

Charles was upbeat and funny with a good sense of humor. He loved working on cars and knew the motor, make and model. He was also a Nascar fan.

Charles was a man of few words, but could find humor in many situations. He loved basketball and often joked with his grandchildren that PaPa could show them a few things.  His favorite thing to do was to drive.

He is preceded in death by his step father, Walter Malone, and one brother, Anthony Malone.

He leaves behind his mother, Ruthie Mae McGaughy, his lifelong partner, Carla "Honey" Whitaker of Columbia, Missouri, five sons, Myron (Roshel) Middleton of Caruthersville, Missouri, Tellius Luster, Charles McGaughy, Jr., and Chad Murphy of Springfield, Missouri, Antonio Jimmerson of Springfield, Illinois, two daughters, Beatrix Murphy and Yakeida Murphy of Austin, Texas, three brothers, Johnny Ray McGaughy of Wardell, Missouri, Charles Malone and Walter Malone of Chicago, Illinois, five sisters, Geraldine Ellis of Homestown, Missouri, Brenda McGaughy and Jean Malone of Chicago, Illinois, Annette Malone of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Jackie Malone of Minnesota, two stepchildren whom he raised, Rodderick Whitaker and Keyshonda "Key" Whitaker, 28 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Howardville, Missouri.
