Alberta Moody Gardner, 95, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, died September 28, 2019 at her home in Columbia, Missouri. She was born January 17, 1924 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the late Frank and Lady Gaye Johnson Moody.
She was a long time member of West End Missionary Baptist Church and Traveler's Rest Missionary Baptist Church, both in Sikeston, Missouri. She was a member of the Senior Choir and served as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher and Sunshine Band Leader.
Alberta was employed by Sikeston Public Schools as a Food Service Worker for many years.
She was united in marriage to Hiram Albert Gardner on December 23, 1939. Her husband, one daughter, Anna and seven siblings also precede her in death.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Barnell Gardner of Jefferson City, Missouri, Pastor Herman (Emma) Gardner of Sikeston, Missouri and Edmond Gardner of Kansas City, Missouri, four daughters, Carolyn Gardner of Des Moines, Iowa, Georgia (John) Munford and Wanda McMillian of Davenport, Iowa, and Anita Gardner of Columbia, Missouri, a bonus son, Lee Williams of Columbia, Missouri, 22 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 p. m. at West End Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Undra West as the officiant and Reverend Herman Gardner as the eulogist.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
