Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle Alfred Martin 85, passed away on June 16, 2019 at home in Charleston, Missouri. Fourth of nine children, he was born August 21, 1933 in Matthews, Missouri to the late Ira Martin and Iree Hampton Martin.
His family later moved to Chicago, Illinois where Alfred grew up and graduated from Washburne Trade School. After Washburne, he began working as an apprentice at International Harvesters Co. (Tenneco) and retired as Plant Manager in 1993.
Alfred married Nancy Lee Williams in 1965 in Chicago. Their precious union endured 54 years of love.
In 1993, Alfred and Nancy retired to Scottsdale, Arizona where he enjoyed his time working as a Bus Driver for the school district. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He loved bowling, swimming, and traveling with friends and family.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Iree Martin, and his siblings Ira Martin Jr., Helen Williams, Ruth Ann Wellington, Adolfus “Jimmie” Martin, Jerry Martin, and Eddie Martin.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Nancy L. Martin of Charleston, Missouri, four sons, Frentress James Williams Sr. (Sandra) of Charleston, Missouri, Alfred Martin Jr. (Linda) of Gary, Indiana, Anthony Martin (Debbie) of Chicago, Illinois, and Lance Martin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his siblings Milton Martin of San Antonio, Texas and Evelyn “Mickey” Chappell (Edward) of Calumet City, Illinois, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC, 2800 East 18th Street, Kansas City, MO 64127.
