Alice Lee Ewing, 71, resident of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Charleston, Missouri died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in Olathe, Kansas. She was born October 24, 1947 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Theoda and Ora Lee Coleman Kirkwood.
Alice had a strong spiritual belief system and accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was a member of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri until she relocated to Kansas City, Kansas. She united with Zion Travel Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.
She worked inside and outside the home taking care of things. However, Alice was mainly a factory worker. Her last employer was General Motors, where she retired in 2017.
Alice was known to many as Ms. Alice and was a true 'Diva'. She was a classy lady who loved to look her best at all times. Although she stood small in stature, she commanded the utmost respect because of her warm, honest, sincere and loving personality. She was a caring person with an infectious smile that brightened the lives of her family and others. She believed in enjoying life and having a good time and entertaining. She was always there when you needed her and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Steve Kirkwood, Wayne Kirkwood, Jerome Kirkwood and Theoda Kirkwood, Jr., and one son, Martish Ewing.
She is survived by one son, Machon (Lindsey) Ewing of Kansas City, Kansas, two daughters, Pamela (Byron) Smith of Charleston, Missouri and Wanda Ewing of Kansas City, Kansas, five brothers, Douglas Kirkwood and Richard Kirkwood of Kansas City, Kansas, Michael (Donna) Kirkwood of Bloomington, Illinois, Edgar (Kristie) Kirkwood of Marietta, Georgia, and Artie (Anita) Kirkwood of Bertrand, Missouri, four sisters, Evawn Kirkwood , Pansey (Jessie) Fradieu and Lori Kirkwood of Kansas City, Kansas, and Shirley (Jeffery) Haynes of Dallas, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Brenda Kirkwood of Bloomington, Illinois and Ruby Kirkwood of Charleston, Missouri, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 1:00 P. M. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend J. L. Posey, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri.
