Arcola Mae McCauley, 82, resident of Charleston, Missouri died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1935 to the late Ernest Ratelff and Ivy Hutson Rateliff in Portageville, Missouri. After the death of her father, her mother married the late Clarence Pettigrew, who played a loving role in her life.
She worked at Charleston Manor Skilled Nursing Facility in the Dietary Department and as a Certified Nurse's Assistant in Charleston, Missouri. Her passion was taking care of others. She operated her own In-home Day Care which allowed her to assist in raising her grandchildren.
She rededicated her life to Christ in 1982 and was a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston, Missouri.
Arcola's union of matrimony to the late Charles Lee McCauley gave life to her three eldest children: Teresa, Charles, and Dennis. Arcola went on to have two additional children, Patricia and William, by the late William H. Betts. All who loved her dearly and will never forget her strength, grace, and unconditional love.
Arcola was very loving and always trusted in GOD no matter what. She was dedicated to her family and assisted in raising several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Rateliff and Elgin Rateliff, two sisters, Augusta Rateliff and Jahalia Rateliff, and two sons, Charles Terry McCauley and Dennis Wayne McCauley.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Henry (Leesha) McCauley of Stanley, Wisconsin, two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Ann (Charles, Jr.) Jackson of Charleston, Missouri and Patricia Sharon Tyus of Clarksville, Tennessee, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Opportunity Church of God in Christ from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Betts officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
