Calvin Lafayette Campbell, affectionately known as Pete, was born April 3, 1951 in Henson, Missouri to Wayman McElroy and Helen Campbell.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Edna Campbell, he is preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Lee Campbell, five sisters, Geraldine McElroy, Tina Campbell, Dyrnell Campbell, Sylvia Campbell, and Angela Campbell, four brothers-in- law, Luther Murray, George Murray, John Murray, and Richard Murray, three sisters-in-law, Katherine McCauley, Estella Coleman, and Ruby Johnson, and two grandchildren, Demetrieal Gillespie and Calvin Murray.
He was a member of Full Gospel Church in East Prairie, Missouri for over 20 years.
On September 30, 1968, he was united in holy matrimony to Edna Lorrine Murray. Four children were born to this union, three sons and one daughter.
Calvin was a man that loved the outdoors. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a deep affection for tractors. So much so, that he loved watching YouTube Videos about them, as well as his favorite show, “Swamp People”. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge with those around him. Calvin never met a stranger. His personality and presence will be truly missed.
On March 13, 2025 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, Calvin was taken from our midst at the age of 73 years, 11 months and ten days. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to honor his memories, three sons, Thomas (Angela) Murray of East Prairie, Missouri, Calvin Campbell, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, and Waymon (Jaime) Campbell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one daughter, Lavonda (Roosevelt) Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri, seven brothers, Johnny Campbell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Waymon McElroy, Jr., Frederick McElroy, and Nathan Campbell all of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert (Kathy) Campbell of Wilmington, North Carolina, James (Gloria) Campbell of Suffolk, Virginia, and Anthony McElroy of Farmington, Missouri, two sisters, Lucille Murray of Charleston, Missouri, and Ethel McElroy of Kansas City, Missouri, two brothers-in-law, Jack (Barbara) Murray and Norman (Elizabeth) Murray both of Charleston, Missouri, his stepmother, Mamie McElroy of Kansas City, Missouri, one sister-in-law, Gloria Murray of Charleston, Missouri, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Full Gospel Church in East Prairie, Missouri with Pastor Eric McGruder eulogizing and his brother, Pastor Robert Campbell of New Beginning Christian Church of Wilmington, North Carolina officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
